Special grey cast iron – optimal protection against weld spatter adhesion

Surface – natural protection against adhesion

The high graphite content in the special gray cast iron reliably prevents weld spatter from adhering firmly. Graphite acts as a natural separating layer between the weld metal and the table surface.

Even larger splashes become brittle in the transition zone and can be easily removed mechanically without affecting the flatness or precision of the work surface. Cleaning is significantly simplified and the service life of the surface is extended.

Thermals – dimensionally stable even under heat

Special gray cast iron is characterized by a lower coefficient of thermal expansion compared to steel. This allows the rails to expand and contract freely under the influence of heat without plastic deformation.

The result: lasting dimensional stability and high precision – even under intense thermal stress in daily welding operations.

Acoustics – noticeably quieter in operation

Thanks to its inherent damping properties, grey cast iron significantly reduces vibrations and structure-borne noise. This lowers production noise and creates a more pleasant working environment.

Especially in continuous operation, this feature measurably contributes to better ergonomics and greater working comfort.

Durability – made for industrial use

The combination of robust cast structure, high wear resistance and thermal stability makes special grey cast iron an extremely durable material.

Even under high mechanical stress and changing temperature conditions, functionality is permanently maintained – a sustainable investment with long-term economic benefits.

Al/Cu alloy: the secure basis for stainless steel processing

Why use aluminum alloy for the tabletop?

Aluminum alloys have proven their worth wherever sensitive materials are processed and the highest demands are placed on cleanliness, surface protection, and material separation. Particularly in stainless steel processing, an aluminum work surface offers decisive advantages over ferritic materials.

Surface – safely separated, gentle on contact

When processing stainless steels, the consistent separation of ferritic materials is essential. Even the slightest iron deposits or scratches on the work surface can lead to contact corrosion and subsequent surface defects on the component.

Aluminum alloys are non-ferritic and thus reliably prevent unwanted material transfer. Due to their comparatively low surface hardness, no damage occurs even in direct contact with polished stainless steel surfaces.

Thermal properties – rapid heat dissipation, less build-up.

The high thermal conductivity of aluminum alloys ensures that generated heat is dissipated quickly. As a result, weld spatter cools down very rapidly and barely adheres to the table surface at normal temperatures.

This reduces cleaning effort, protects the surface and supports a clean, controlled welding process.

Material properties –
stable and proven in practice

Despite their lower surface hardness, aluminum alloys possess a comparatively high tensile strength (e.g., F 37, similar to structural steel). This combination makes them stable enough for everyday use without endangering delicate workpieces.

For this reason, aluminum table surfaces have established themselves as a standard solution in the sensitive stainless steel processing industry for many years.

Durability & operational reliability – stay clean, reduce effort

Since weaknesses or impurities on stainless steel components can often only be completely eliminated by elaborate immersion pickling, the preventive avoidance of contamination is becoming increasingly important.

An aluminum tabletop significantly helps to avoid rework, scrap, and costly cleaning processes. For continuous use, the application of a suitable release agent is recommended – as with all materials.
